Compassionate Reprieve is the world’s first nonprofit organization to pioneer GriefTech for correctional settings a groundbreaking approach to restoring dignity and emotional connection behind bars.

We provide secure, DOJ-compliant streaming funeral access for incarcerated individuals, allowing them to virtually attend the funerals of loved ones when physical attendance is not permitted. In moments of grief, loss, and final goodbyes, we believe every human being deserves the chance to mourn no matter where they are.

Why We Exist

Across the U.S., thousands of incarcerated individuals are denied the opportunity to attend a loved one’s funeral due to strict prison policies, security concerns, or logistical barriers. Traditional compassionate release is rare, and physical transport is often costly or denied altogether.

This lack of access fuels:

Compassionate Reprieve was created to change that.
